Third Time’s the Charm: Will the FDA Ban Menthol For Good?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is on a ticking clock to give its notice on rulemaking, after announcing it would develop a plan to ban menthol cigarettes in April 2021. But even as the agency works out the details, states and municipalities are deciding whether or not to proceed with their own measures to ban menthol and other flavored tobacco products.

We sat down with Faculty Scholars Program Committee Member and Princeton University’s Henry Putnam University Professor of History and Public Affairs, Keith Wailoo, PhD, to discuss the impact his new book, Pushing Cool, is having on policy debates and public understanding.
