Peter Reese Named Greenwall Faculty Scholar

Peter Reese, MD, MSCE (clinical epidemiology) is Assistant Professor of Medicine (Kidney Diseases) at the University of Pennsylvania. His project is “Ethical and normative analyses of the ethics of choice architecture in organ donor registration.” He will carry out a randomized trial at the Delaware Department of Motor Vehicles to examine how presenting information about organ donation affects the willingness of persons renewing their drivers licenses on line to register as organ donors. The selection of the messages about organ donation will be based on behavioral economics or “nudges.” Dr. Reese has been active in policy discussions regarding transplantation and is chair-elect of the Bioethics Committee of the United Network for Organ Sharing, which sets policies for allocating kidneys for transplantation.
