Faculty Scholars Take on Hot Topics in Bioethics: Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization

The past few years have underscored the essential role bioethics plays in helping us navigate health crises and controversies. From the tsunami of COVID-19 to the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision and the FDA’s accelerated approval of Aduhelm, to name just a few, the Greenwall community is speaking out and offering thoughtful solutions.

To mark the Faculty Scholars Program’s 20th anniversary, we are looking at current conversations in the public square and sharing a few recent snapshots of Faculty Scholars and Alums responding to the issues of the day. This blog post is the first in our “Hot Topics” series.

In June, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in its ruling on the Dobbs case, confirming what many Court-watchers expected following the leak of a draft decision weeks earlier. Faculty Scholars and Alums spoke about some of the ethical dilemmas emerging from this reversal, from the way clinicians care for patients to its impact on assisted reproduction. Open public consideration of these issues can help society make informed decisions, and our Scholars and Alums are leading the way. Here are some examples of what they are saying.
